Google My Business Hacks – What I discovered
Do you want to know what the biggest 3 hacks no body seems to be doing right now is? The answer is a tricky one to find, but after conducting several audits on local businesses I now reveal my findings. In the next few minutes my video will point you in the right direction.
So let’s remind ourselves that Google My Business is a powerful SEO tool. It’s a real gift that’s been given to businesses particularly if you want to benefit in a local way.
To start with you need to login to Google My Business. Sign in as you normally would and then you’ll come up with your locations and maybe your businesses you’re running.
Now go to the location that you’re wanting to improve and then do the following 3 things.
In 2020 photos are so important if you want more website traffic.
So what’s the first tip or hack we’re going to look at? Simply put it’s, just “Add more photos that are relevant to your business” . Nothing new. You’ve probably already got some photos added to your listing. Then you’ve added an image of your logo when you first set up the Google Business location. You’ve added a couple of pictures of who you are, who the team are for your business. Maybe you have even one or two internal desk shots of the areas where you work.
Yet what I’m going to say is ….add many, many many more photos! Why? Because photos also have their own search results. You no doubt have come across the fact that websites have search results. Also images do. So if you’re searching for something on the web, its sometimes easier to make that search visually. People (your potential clients) often will search using Google Images instead. Those image results can take people to your business, to your website or to your Google My Business listing.
The more photos you add, the more traffic will come to your Google My Business listing. If you don’t believe it then let me show you. I’ll show you my analytics of how these photos have produced more traffic. Notice Google themselves ask you to “Post more to stay ahead” So they are going to reward you for this, because they want more photos in their index.
In my case, I’m a web designer. So adding photos of what I’ve done. Designs I’ve made. Customers that are happy with their websites. Websites that are looking great on a mobile as well as a laptop. All these are ways of adding the images even though they may be on my website. It just gives a chance for traffic to come to Google My Business location by means of images too.
How you can gain more traffic with regular posts
M second tip I believe will help grow your business for 2020 is to look at how often you post an article in your Google My Business dashboard. The dashboard currently enables you to post several types of articles.
- Post for adding an update
- Post and event
- Add an offer through a post
- Add a product through a post
Posting on a regular basis to Google My Business is exactly what Google wants. Thus they have been constantly updating this area of 2019. Like above with photos, you’ve added a couple of products, you’ve added a couple of services even, you’ve put a description together when you first set it up.
But here is the difference. Have you considered once or twice a week, writing an article that includes some keywords. Regularly talking about your services and local offers for your clients. In my case I’m a web designer. So I’d write posts about web design. I’ll write about
hosting and domain services. I would provide new posts about graphic design, about logo design. You get the idea. Google needs to see what I do regularly if you want to go up in the location rankings.
What to post when you update your Google My Business location
When I write about my business. Think of a few keywords that are relevant to my locality too. So I will mention a couple of the towns nearby. By doing that on a regular basis, it just lets Google know that..
” I’m still here, these are my keywords. This is prompting my relevancy. So when you talk about web designers in this area think about me Google”.
By updating the posts and by adding a couple of images. You’re giving Google a lot of information about your website and business. A lot of information about your relevant business that’s looking for other local businesses.
So the regularity of posts is my second tip for 2020 that most people don’t do. They post once or twice and then they just forget to post again.
Where you can get a free Google My Business 360 degree photo
My final tip is based on a video I made earlier and you can access it on this Google my business 360 photos guide. Go and check this out. It’s a fact. Most businesses haven’t got a virtual reality or a 360-degree photo of their premises.
So once you’ve got the app, then you’ll find then if you click into it it just brings up a map of the world. This now gives you the ability to choose here so you can use external devices which is what we saw earlier. You can also just take a photo sphere.
Google My Business 360 for Free
In the past I always thought that you’d have to have 500 pounds in your pocket to do this. If you want it done really professionally which I would recommend if you’re an important business that has several rooms and it’s really relevant to see how your premises look as a customer. In that case 500 pounds is well spent. It also officially tells Google that you exist.
On the other hand, if you haven’t got that type of budget, you can still do a 360-degree photo video for free. Simply put, you download the Google Street View app and in Street View
you can take a 360-degree of your premises and then it just recognises the business because your GPS and you can upload it straight to your Google My Business account.
The majority of Google my business locations and listings haven’t used a 360 degree yet. So maybe they’re in the future in 2020 that will become another factor that Google uses to put you above other businesses.
Conclusion
Google My Business is totally free to use and if used correctly will give you local business a real boost. For those of you who need more help, then feel free to comment on the video above and I will do my best to answer your questions.
- Post regularly using keywords relevant to your area
- Add photos of your products and services, loads not just a few, there is huge traffic coming from photos and images on your local listing. Its easy traffic, so grab it now and stay ahead.
- Add a 360 degree video of your premises. Not the £500 way, but the free way. Need more info? Then see my recent video that shows you how easy it is to get this uploaded for free. – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnHnT…
Try to make the 3-Pack in Google map listings
The local 3–Pack is what you are aiming for if you want rich traffic. The 3-pack refers to the SERP feature that’s shaped like a map and displays places related to your query, as well as a 3-point list of businesses. Of course if you make the top three of your location and your business after using my above hacks, then you will see a load of traffic coming through from local customers inquiring for your business and wonder why you didn’t do the above sooner.
So I really hope those three things are my favourite three things at the moment. The majority of people I’m doing website critiques for don’t seem to be doing. If you can do them you’re going to benefit your business in the coming weeks and months ahead in 2020.
