A good business name has a huge impact on your new business. If you haven’t registered a business name, then you have an opportunity to get a quick benefit over the competition. You may want to include keywords in your business name Why? Area names are currently given stronger favour in the algorithm. Additionally, relevant keywords in your industry are also rewarded. Let’s assume you are a Miami-based plumber you could register it with the tax office with your name see logo ideas below. Yet not “B J Brian” logo on your website and letterheads. Surely it’s better to have “Miami Plumber” or better still include both then get it seen on business cards, shop fronts, signage vans etc
here are some examples
Get your domain name registered. It’s OK to have miami-plimber.com with or without a dash if available. If you want to register it try Google domains see the video below.
Here I show you how I registered a domain name and connected it to my Google business profile. Once you have a domain you can connect it to your websit. You could also use the free GMB website or even a Wix website (How To Integrate Google My Business with Wix) .
It’s like a personal registration on a car, it can go with you wherever you want your business. You can even have you and others on the email address with the domain. eg brian@miami-plumber.com and his partner lisa@miami-plumber.com.
Question should you get the .net the .co.uk. com. org .au or whichever country is local to you?
Answer, can you afford your competitors to get them instead?
Have you heard of an elevator pitch? It’s a description you are going to need a lot of times. The description texts in GMB are shown on the free website as the about section. It’s also prominent on the Knowledge Panel: This gives you more than title and categories. Like an about us, but make it slightly different if you can.
Use the description as a really useful and important way to communicate, a bit like the elevator text or pitch, a nice concise sentence that sets you apart. An elevator pitch is a brief, persuasive speech that you use to spark interest in what your organization does. You can also use it to create interest in a project, idea or product – or in yourself. A good elevator pitch should last no longer than a short elevator ride of 20 to 30 seconds, hence the name.
before you start, registering be clear about what your exact NAP Name, Address and Phone number are. Got them? Then register these the same EVERYWHERE including indexes and citations. Just copy and paste the same information. any variations and you could dilute the authenticity of your business.
As you will know from this article “Rank 1st in Google” Primary Google Business category is the most important part of Google’s algorithm and how you rank. The challenge is when your business has more than one category be clear about what your priority business is then make this your primary category.
Secondary categories are only to help clarify your business, so don’t overthink it. if you are not clear, Google and customers will also be confused. This video is made for those that have more than one category to choose from
What is your business sounds strange but are you a service a shop or a hybrid Do you want to be registered on a map for visitors or cover a local area confusion here is why so many businesses quickly get banned by Google – (video above) shows you on registration the differences
At this point you are now in need of one more thing this is where most fail at the first hurdle. you need a strategy to make it work, without it, all the things we discussed are just going to have little use, I have 3 strategies that amplify everything we have discussed and you will be glad to know I have made a video to show you how to do it for your business.
Imagine if every time someone searched for your business, it was your business showing first on Google. First on their mobile in google maps, and first in several keyword variations of your business?
