Questions to be honest with...

  • What have you noticed is no longer valued by Google?
  • If you look at your website or posts does it sound natural?
  • Is your content sincere and helpful?
  • How much value do you give to your customers?
  • Are you able to build up E-A T?

What Is Local Search Engine Optimisation and how can it go wrong?

Over-optimisation? For example Keyword stuffing eg unnatural use on GMB or website.

Eg. if someone had an itch on your back, a scratch for the itch is great

Unrealistic is scratching it raw!

How things have changed in Local SEO over the last few years. Here are some things to keep in mind.

  • Humans and Google's algorithm can see through unnatural use of words
  • Google My Business is aimed at being useful on maps and search engines, so if its not useful it isnt going to have a long term optimization benefit?
  • Keyword stuffing or invisible text were ways SEO took place in the past, in 2021 its all really dodgy and considered a negative signal to Google.
  • Google wants to promote user experience and user intent.
  • Bounce rates tell Google it's a bad experience and thereby a loss of trust is signalled
  • Avoid overuse or keywordsin un your title tags, particularly in your GMB business name

It's a fine line between SEO and SEOO search engine over optimisation.

Read your content through, does it flow, write for people, not bots.

Today ask someone to watch this video to understand what you want from them and then ask for there honest feedback

TODAYS LOCAL SEO TOOL

Sometimes though you need to avoid double content, how can you reword a LinkedIn release, a blog, a GMB post and a video description? - https://www.autowriter.ai/?via=zane

It's a fine line between SEO and SEOO search engine over optimisation.

Try doing this to improve your local search engine optimisation

  • Look at your website and ask where is its focus
  • Is it confusing or clear what you want them to do next?
  • Look at your competitor's sites & GMB, what do they do better?

Avoid old SEO advice

Old SEO advice is not only inaccurate but sometimes dangerous

In the past you could stuff keywords. Today adding a keyword 20 times is not a good idea. Adding keywords invisibly by making white text on a white page background is not a clever way of getting keywords into a page without annoying users. Getting backlinks from people offering a link for money isn't always positive as its often a non releated site which is unhelpful for visitors.

All this is SEO advice. It's out there on the web, but it's old advice! Even this year, studies are suggesting some GMB practices are no long relevant. For example keywords in description, geotagging images, the amount of citations, its all changing.
