Yes, absolutely. Your customers use Google to find your business. If you don’t help yourself by optimising your GMB listing then you’re excluding the majority of searchers. So yes google my business will help your SEO as you get seen, linked and improve your credibility. That’s another article though.
So the first part is to go to insights. This is within the Google My Business login area. The idea is to find out the keywords your customers are currently finding you under. So rather than guess this gives you a complete truth of the matter. Next use a local city to get ideas from. Why a local city and not a small nearby village? You want there to be enough competition so you can learn from the top of the ranking. If these are in a large competitive market then they are being rewarded for doing the right thing. But if you go too far out of your area it may change, certainly stick within your country and category when you do this to make sure its relevant to your business, customers and thereby Google’s algorithm
This is just about taking notes. Ignore nothing. approach it without a biased point of view. you could even ask a neutral or a friend to do this for you. What your trying to do is look at the raw facts and not justify your current business approach. This is where most will fail, so don’t let yourself down!
