So I notice many businesses are not taking any action, and gradually, decay sets in.

So, back to my opening statement, how to rank outside the top 20 on Google Maps and search is to do nothing!

But of course, I'm all about taking action to rank easily.

This is all about atomic habits.

It's all about micro-optimizations.

For example, I would encourage a busy manager to set aside an hour on Friday to follow a mini routine:

- Once a week, add high-quality photos.
- Reply to reviews while checking emails.
- Regularly encourage customer reviews.
- Test new Google My Business features.
- Learn from Insights, analytics, and customer feedback.

By implementing these micro changes once a week, you can build a sustainable habit of optimizing your Google Business Profile, leading to increased visibility and customer engagement.

The Tip For Ranking #2 on Google Maps

The #2 ranking spot on your Google Maps search is now replaced by a photo carousel.

Instead of directly showing the second business listing, Google now displays a carousel of photos from nearby businesses relevant to the search.

So this is a massive and quick win for you

What should you do?

Add high-quality photos. This is crucial.

Regularly uploading attractive and relevant photos to your Google Business Profile (GBP) is now even more important for visibility.

Even better tip though, or a bonus tip is customer photos will outrank everything!

Google seems to prioritize customer photos, so encourage customers to add authentic images to their reviews.

By focusing on these points, #2 and ranking quickly is going to immediately increase your chances of appearing prominently in the new photo carousel and potentially attract more customers.

Getting to #1 and staying there
