Is Your Business Card Working Against You? Today we look at 7 tips of what your business card should include. We will also see How to get your business card design for free with a special Zanet Design promotion.
Before we look at our free offer, if you are designing your business card yourself with photoshop or some other design software then we have soem useful tips for you.
Your business card is an important document. It’s often given very little thought. Apart from proof reading your company card thoroughly before it goes to print, little thought goes into it. The majority of business contact now takes place using social media. So are business cards still relevant? Statistics suggest 12% of business cards still produce valuable connections. No one can afford to throw 12% profit away, so don’t underestimate the cards value.
Provide your name and your job title. Then provide telephone number, email address and web address.
In some cases your address can be useful, but in the interest of keeping the card clean, this is optional as the web site will have your address on.
Portrait may help you stand out, but it’s not recommended. Using a landscape rather than a portrait orientation will ensure you will have space to enter your full contact details.
The standard business size is 74 x 52 mm or 2.91 x 2.05 inches. Make sure the only size you change is the thickness of the card used and not the width and height. Thickness should be somewhere between 500 to 700gsm.
If you have had your website designed, then hopefully you purchased a branding package that included logo design. Your logo should be consistent on all your media, whether print or web. Clipart is not going to work in your favour. So do set aside some budget for a good logo design.
Always use one font and keep the text left aligned where possible. Centred text can be difficult to read so keep this to the minimum.
It’s tempting to sound desperate by listing every service on your card. Don’t. Your website can explain these areas in detail. At the very most, you could include a strapline.
We hope the 7 steps above give you a helpful guide to making the most of your business card when you network. Zanet Design help small business completly brand their business. Don’t hesitate to drop me an email here if you have any questions.
